Shapado Release 3.9: Going Social
We were so busy working on release 3.9 of Shapado we didn’t even announce 3.8 even though it got deployed.
What this release focuses on is the Social Web. You can now connect to shapado using your Facebook account and/or your twitter account (you could already login with your Google and Yahoo account among other services before).
Another thing is that you can now synchronize all your profile activities with various services such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN. So that each questions you make gets posted to those services.
We’ve also made it easier to share posts you like using the Facebook Like Button, twitter button, identi.ca button and others.
Here is a non-exaustive list of new features, improvements and bug fixes:
Features
Improvements:
- many SEO improvements by tweaking our robots.txt and removing any duplicated pages, this will make Google very happy and it has already started showing great results.
- improved support for non-latin languages
- more sharing buttons: you can share questions on more sites now.
- add special icons next to admins and mods avatars
- show badge count for each user
- widgets must be EmbeddedObjects: we’re taking advantage of super fast MongoDB even more for Shapado.

- index of wiki pages: everyone can browse the wiki now
- Ability to sort post in your profile: requested by many users, you can go to a user profile and sorts his/her latest activities
- add rel=nofollow to all links in post content, this should help make spam futil
- filter feeds by language using a unique token by user
- allow to set group logo width and height
- more i18n
Bug fixes:
- auto display thumbnail for videos should not happen inside a code block

Next thing I'd like to see is posting to my FB and identi.ca whenever I provide an answer to a question, or whenever *I* write a question. :)
