We are happy to announce a new update of Shapado, the free and open source Q&A software.

Among the new updates we have:

• more ajax: comments, autocompletion for tags, showing related questions when asking.

• social features: you can now follow and unfollow users.

• new badges

• improved wiki

• better markup and faster editor

• more translations

• question body has been made optional

• support for latex in the editor to enter Math formulas.

• added a TOS and Privacy page

• added a menu to list groups on the top bar

• styling customization: you can now freely customize both css and html

• custom ads: you can now use your own ads

• custom domain: you can now use your own domain

• custom analytics

• more notifications

• webchat: there’s a link to chat with us directly from the page

• import stackexchange dumps

And last but not least, we are announcing our plans and pricing for our hosting solution. Those plans will not be activated for now as we are still in beta.

Basically we have two low cost plans, and three professional ones.

• The first plan is completely free but you can’t customize your styling and you can’t use your own domain and ads.

• The second plan allows you to use your own domain but no custom ads for only $9 per month.

We think those two plans are great for people who just want to build a Q&A community with no lucrative goals.

The three other plans are for people who want to make money with their sites. The plans start at $49 per month, give you all the features you need and are limited by the number of page views only. See here for more details.

For now, all users can use all features for free until plans get activated, we want to make sure our platform is rock solid before charging anyone, so don’t hesitate to file bugs.
